On fields where UCF’s biochar soil amendment was applied in 2025, bean yields doubled compared with unamended fields.
The result comes from the Agriculture & Seed Bank program, which as of October 2024 was working with 242 farmers across 7 villages in Nakivale. Growers return seed after harvest, so each strong season multiplies the bank for the next.
