Program
Women’s Leadership & Livelihoods
Leadership training and sustainable enterprises for women in the settlement.

Women in Nakivale take part in a 6-week online leadership and mental-health resilience course run with African Leadership Transformation (ALT), whose founder Daniel Kamanga opened the course to refugee women. Weekly themes range across foundations of leadership and integrity, abuse of power, redefining resilience in feminine leadership, strategies for mental wellbeing, and forgiveness. Each course closes with a completion celebration in the settlement, led by Dr Theophista Fokukoro (PhD Reproductive Health, ALT facilitator).
A separate livelihoods track, RALD, is run with the EcoRestoration Alliance. It develops food production, home manufacturing, children’s arts education and market income projects for women and youth, using a train-the-trainer model so skills keep spreading. The track is a direct response to reduced UNHCR and WFP support in the settlement.

In one documented example, USD 1,400 in project funding generated sustainable income boosts for participants.
